URBAN LIFE 'N STYLE NOVEMBER 2016 | TAKE ME BACK - Page 30

QUARZIA was founded in 2004 by two Italian designers who fell in love with the island of Bali and decided to make it home to their Batik-specialized label. Coming from a fashion background, Simonetta as a textile designer and Marco as financial manager, Bali seemed like the perfect option to make a change in their lives and careers: “the freedom to express ourselves and the artistic skill of the Balinese people were great motivators for us”. Simonetta and Marco, enchanted by the Indonesian batik manufacturing technique, started to design clothes using the ancient art of fabric decoration adding a contemporary European twist. Shading and colour layering also come into play, creating soft and unique effects. Silk dresses drape the body in figure flattering cascades of fabric, seductive tops fall elegantly off the shoulder to reveal just a hint of skin, and loose, satiny pants feature clean lines that create the illusion of length and provide comfort and room to move. QUARZIA’s unique garments are inspired by the beauty of tropical nature. The use of geometric patterns are prominent too. 30 urbanlifenstyle.com 31
