have been more challenging for me in my twenties. Even had I signed a deal, there would have been a lot of things that I would not have wanted to do.

U.G. Digital Mag: What are your take aways with being independent? What are your best moments, and why do you think many artists are leaning toward independence?

Indi Tyton: My best moments are being able to choose what I want, and release what I’m feeling. I want to cater to my audience and fans, but I know I can do a lot of things without answering to anyone. You always want quality, but you don’t have people telling you what to do. That feeling is priceless. I feel like a lot of artists go this route, even when they have other opportunities, and its because of the pressure. The best artists get shelved. Now, they have more of an entrepreneurial approach. You are a business, and artists are realizing it. That’s not how the industry was really set up, and now that people realize it, it’s good for them. Many of these artists have super fans, and when you have that, you don’t have to be platinum. As long as you do what you need to do, and keep a roof over your head, it works out good. For me, I want to stay that way, and will do what I can to stay that way. People don’t want to be slaves anymore. We’re “slaves” with so many things. You should be able to capitalize in a way where this is all advantageous to you. You have to build a team, but it’s just a more freeing experience.

U.G. Digital Mag: In terms of timeline, when can we expect to hear new music?

Indi Tyton: My goal is to release later this year.

U.G. Digital Mag: In terms of final comments, and in general, what type of words of encouragement do you offer?

Indi Tyton: The main words I would offer is that it is never too late. I say that because many times, people will put time limits on things. They say that if you haven’t done it by this age, you should give it up … but for me, I’ve seen a lot of people accomplish goals later in life. They may have had to raise families first, or do other things. I’ve also seen people accomplish early on. I’m a walking testimony though that it is never too late. It’s all about timing. If you feel in your heart you should do it, just keep working toward your goal and you will get there.
