Dash Flash: After learning to present myself, I learned that in this industry, it’s like it’s been cool to be unprofessional, and get out there and act a fool. I learned that to get that deal that you want, connect, and build long term relationships, you have to carry yourself in a better way. A lot of people just don’t know how to go about it. The first impression is very important.

U.G. Digital Mag: So talk about Click. The first time I heard it, I felt like it was something that was not only infectious, but it was clear that you were having a good time. That to me is one of the things that make people love it. How did you connect to Wayne in the first place to make it a reality?

Dash Flash: I’ve always wanted to do a record with Wayne. I’ve always looked up to him, and he’s always been like the hardest worker. Back in like 2007, 2008, 2009, it seemed like he was dropping a new song every week. That right there is an inspiration in itself. In terms of the song, it was kind of like a battle. I didn’t really have a story concept to it. It was kinda just like laying down bars and seeing who had the best bars. He was going hard and I was going hard. I felt like it was bringing back my rap battles, which was cool. He was spitting some pretty hard stuff. Now the way I got the feature was through a connection with my engineer, shout out to JB. He graduated from Full Sail University and ended up getting hired by Outkast. It’s just been good

vibes and he’s been throwing me so many opportunities.

U.G. Digital Mag: On a side not, it’s a good plug for Full Sail. There’s so much opportunity that comes out of there. I actually went as well, and so many people are able to make good connections once they’re finished.

Dash Flash: I have another friend as well down in the Orlando area who is attending right now. He has an internship with a studio out in Orlando, one of the same studios where Wale and Rick Ross have been recording. He actually plugged me in with the owners of World Star Hip Hop. Shout out to him as well.

U.G. Digital Mag: When you put this together, did you work with a timeline at all? And did you expect it to pop as soon as it did?

Dash Flash: When I was offered the opportunity with Wayne, I had already selected the beat, and I already knew in my mind that he would be able to kill it. I had the beat already done, and it was a good opportunity for my other brother. Shout out to Fresh. I put him on the hook, and he did his thing on it.

U.G. Digital Mag: What’s next? What things are in the plans?

Dash Flash: Well, I have a feature with Rich the Kid coming soon. It’s a great song and I have a lot of confidence in it. It’s definitely relevant to today’s sound. It’s just as good as this song, if not better. Rich the Kid did his thing, and he’s really a good humble dude. I was able to meet Young lido, and we talked about doing a feature. Also a feature with King Los on the way. It’s cool to be able to connect and have more work. We’ll get some residual stuff going and keep the momentum going.

U.G. Digital Mag: I’m glad people are receptive and you’re working with so many artists. The industry is changing. Five to ten years ago, a lot of artists weren’t so quick to work with each other. Where can people check you out?

Dash Flash: My site is being created right now. I’m on Twitter at @dashflash, the single Click is available on iTunes. And Just google me.
