3 PART U.G. Digital Mag: Thanks so much for your time man. I appreciate you so much.  Jay Evans: No problem man.  In the last part of our look back at Sons 2 The Grave, we wanted to give an opportunity for viewers and readers to get to know another name and face from the film. This time, however, he’s from more behind the scenes.  Jay Evans is well on his way to being one of the biggest names of the industry when it comes to artistry, producing, and more importantly, film composing. It takes a special kind of person to be able to put together the backing tracks for an entire film. Essentially, that’s what he did with Sons 2 The Grave. Following the lead of only a handful of others in music, and at the request of film producer Lynn Stoltz, Jay has put together a masterpiece in composing for Sons 2 The Grave. In this feature, he talks openly about his process of pulling things together. He also talks more about his career and all else he has going on. It’s time for you to really get to know Jay Evans. U.G. Digital Mag: I recall us talking around TDotFest, and that was so huge for you. How did you become such a huge part of that in the first place? Jay Evans: It really was my manager. Shout out to her. She’s been helping me get on different platforms. It was really her.  U.G. Digital Mag: This is an awesome opportunity. You’ve been out there, and people are really catching on to your brand. Obviously, you got into this because music was in your family, but how did it all happen for you? U.G. Digital Mag: When I look at everything you’ve been involved in, that was one of the things, to me, that really got you going on a bigger scale. Now  of course, we also talked around Sons 2 The Grave and the filming of the movie because of your involvement. We’ll definitely talk more about that, but you’ve really been Jay Evans: I just stayed focused on music first. I started producing and writing music. Then I was able to get into film composing.  making a lot of headway. What other things are happening? U.G. Digital Mag: Do you feel like it was somewhat easy for you because of familial connections? Jay Evans: I guess partially, but not just that. As a kid I couldn’t fall asleep unless there was music (laughing). I think I was born to do this.  U.G. Digital Mag: Talk a little about your brand that you’re building. You get a lot of comparisons to others in music. You have your artists like Neyo, and Chris Brown, and there’s so much out there that sounds similar. I think a lot of artists sound the same, which actually is what separates you because of how different you sound. But talk about your brand.  Jay Evans: We kind of built my brand for me to be more of a well rounded entrepreneur, record producer, label executive, and artist development. Someone like Diddy is a good one to mirror after. That’s what I’m going after.  Jay Evans: So much has been happening. Everyone really came together for Sons 2 ThE Grave. It was a great movie. I wrote three songs on there. Choices, of course was one that everybody could relate, and it really revolved around the character Marcus Jennings, which is played brilliantly by Trevor Jackson. In terms of other things coming, I’m almost done with my album. I have some artists that I’m working on projects with as well. It’s all coming together. U.G. Digital Mag: In terms of your artistry and what you bring to the table, what do you offer that we’re not already getting? Jay Evans: I feel that I am well rounded with different types of music, whether pop, rock R&B, country, reggae, and so forth. I’m well rounded with different cultures of music. For me to be composing a movie, it’s something that is really on another plateau. Lynn Stoltz is the producer and she also wrote the movie. It’s like, for me to get on that platform, that’s a whole different angle for
