Artist to Watch Dev Dapree
Dev Dapree was born in Florida and moved to Washington DC at the age of eight . She was quickly attracted to the go-go music she commonly heard and learned to incorporate its style with her southern roots that were founded on soul blended with Hip-Hop . Being a southern kid growing up in DC and Maryland help create a unique style along with life experiences .
Her approach to the game comes with wordplay , a lyrical foundation and soulful roots attached . Music has always been where the heart is for Dev and she loves to inspire a crowd .
Dev Dapree began her study of music at Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts where she saw her craft from a different perception and used those teachings to better herself . Her curiosity grew as she learned that music itself was its own language and broad in style . Dev began recording in 2005 and has continued to try to spread her music to the world .

Q : Who is “ Rednose ” as an artist ? A : I ’ m like , really a writer more than anything else . The people who were coming to me to write for them didn ’ t match my flow , so I just started saying my own shit . They didn ’ t match my words and to me that was like an insult . So as an artist , I ’ m more of a feeling .
Q : Have you always wanted a career in music or was it a bit unexpected ? A : It was a little unexpected but , me and my people always used to rap . In school we used to beat on tables and freestyle but we never thought about taking it seriously until now .
Q : Creatively , where do you picture yourself in three years ? A : In 3 years I see myself at the top , even if it ’ s just in Baltimore . I ’ d be content with being that nigah in my hood .
Q : Who are your musical inspirations ? A : My inspiration has always been the ones closest to me , my homies Blast and Big Nick ... All the OGs inspired me since about 13 years old for real . Man , Meek Mill definitely inspires me too , his raps are like my everyday life .
Q : If the opportunity presented itself , what artist would you collaborate with ? Locally or Industry Artist . A : I ’ d jump on the opportunity to collaborate with Meek , I feel like he puts on for the nigahs that come from the bottom . He ’ s like the only oneI ’ m really feeling other than Yo Gotti , I ’ d collaborate with Gotti too !
Q : Do you have any rivals ? A : Nah , no rivalries . I don ’ t see them , when I ’ m in my zone I ’ m stuck !
Q : Biggest celebrity crushes ? A : No celebrity crushes either , I like them straight out of Baltimore lol , these females too much for me , I ’ m simple .
Q : What is your favorite album of all time ? Why ? A : “ Stillmatic ” by Nas , that was the first CD I ’ ve ever had . That ’ s back when music still had substance .
Q : How do you feel about the music of this generation ? A : I actually love the music , some of it sounds the same but some dudes have stepped out of the box . The music is Youthful , expressive , and live ! These young ones really putting on rapping about their environment . I definitely love Bmore music , I support anything from home .
Q : Any projects in the works ? A : Man , I have something real nice in the works ! I ’ m working on like two different projects right now . “ Young OG Pt . II ” is my solo joint , it really shows my growth . The “ Sauce Queens ” Mixtape is going to be crazy too , that ’ s the whole team !
( Any last remarks or shout outs ) “ I just want to tell all of my supporters that I appreciate them , I really mean that shit from the bottom of my heart . For taking the time out to really listen to my music and holla at me , I wasn ’ t expecting that type of turn out . It ’ s a dog eat dog world out here and we ’ re not approachable people sometimes , but people don ’ t know that I ’ m cool as a fan . I ’ m not stuck up at all , I ’ m as good as it gets .
