On the afternoon, the autocross event followed. Unfortunately, a rain gutter that ran across the track in the middle of a straight had a fairly big bump, which caused the motor controller to shut down power to the motor every time the car drove above it. The immediate cure was for the drivers to slow down before the bump, which added a lot of time in our lap times; despite that, a lap time of 60.3 seconds was achieved, about 10 seconds slower than the event winner, which was good enough to earn the 27th place for UoP Racing Team. Dynamic events were over for Saturday and the car headed again to the charging area for a full charge before the big race: Endurance event. The big day at Silverstone circuit started with rain; however, due to the relatively competitive lap time during autocross, the team was starting the endurance event a bit later and hoped for a dry endurance run, as per the weather forecast. With the car completely charged, we staged for our endurance laps, under heavy clouds. Just as we were about to leave the line, disaster! Heavy rain started dropping, which caused the organizers to pull out a red flag and stop the race. Changing tires under heavy rain UoP Racing Team | University of Patras | Rio, Patras 26500,
