Michelle Simmons is a UNSW Professor
of Physics and Director of the Australian
Research Council Centre of Excellence for
Quantum Computation and Communication
Technology (CQC2T). Awarded Australian
of the Year in 2018, Simmons is a pioneer
in quantum computing research. In fact, her
CQC2T team are the global leaders in the
race to create a quantum computer in silicon.

Successful completion of your 11-month Diploma
Program offers entry into second year of your chosen
undergraduate Science program at UNSW Sydney. 1
The entire study duration from the start of your
diploma to the end of the bachelor program is the
same as that of a UNSW direct entry student.

a Diploma Program will be subject to additional competitive processes for entry to a
UNSW Sydney degree program. Students must complete the pre-requisite courses

quantum computing company in Australia
last year. She united experts from the
industry, governments, and universities to
create a consortium based at UNSW Sydney
to further her innovative work.
