Scholarships and awards

Scholarships of AUD $ 10,000 are awarded to the most outstanding students in each major intake at UNSW Foundation Studies , in each of the following academic areas :
Art Design Business Science
The scholarship program was founded in honour of the late Ross Woodham , founding director of UNSW Foundation Studies . Ross Woodham Scholarships are open to international and local students enrolling at UNSW .
UNSW Foundation Studies students also receive subject prizes in recognition of their excellence , and on occasion , UNSW will offer additional scholarships for extraordinary achievement or potential .

Citizens and residents
Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia , including students who have completed an Australian Year 12 Certificate , are also eligible to apply for all UNSW Foundation Studies programs .
Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents :
• Pay the same Foundation Studies fees as international students .
• May be eligible for a Commonwealth supported place at UNSW on completion of the Foundation Studies program
• Apply to university via the Universities Admissions Centre ( UAC ) and may require higher grades depending on local demand , the same as other Australian students .
• Can either pay UNSW fees up-front or defer them and pay later through the tax system using the HECS-HELP scheme .
• Should enrol in a UNSW Foundation Studies program concluding in time for entering Semester 1 at university . ( Commonwealth places for UNSW Semester 2 ( July ) entry are limited and more competitive than Semester 1 entry ).
• May not be offered places at some universities which do not recognise Australian citizens or permanent residents who have studied Foundation programs . Our staff can provide advice on university applications .
