Words of Advice

Happy June everyone! Crazy, we are already halfway through the year. Do not worry, there is still plenty of time to make good on those ridiculous New Year’s Resolutions we all made.

I want to do something a little different this month. As well all know, Father’s Day is coming up. If you forgot, don’t worry there is plenty of time to plan something. (Check out the LIFE section in this issue for some great ideas!) I have been fortunate enough to have my father involved with every aspect of my life, from taking me to my basketball games growing up, to being at my college graduation. His impact on me as a man has been everything a boy could ask for as they venture through life. For this month’s edition, I want to pass on my pop’s own words of advice, so you can apply them to all aspects of life.

EMBRACE

Embrace everything life has to offer you, from people to experiences. It is all happening for a reason. If you are struggling with a relationship in your life or even having problems staying at a weight you find comfortable, embrace the good and the bad. Not many people had the opportunity to enjoy life and many of us take it for granted. Take on any challenge and enjoy it.

BE POSITIVE

Everyday we wake up in a bed, we already have a better day than millions of people. We take many things for granted in our day to day lives. Even if we have a bad day, maybe our boss yelled at us, maybe we had car troubles, or maybe our significant other is upset with us. We have to remember, many people don't have a job. Many people don’t have cars. Many people are alone in the world. The more positive we can be in our day to day lives, the more those we interact with can be impacted. Even a smile to a stranger can improve someone’s day more than we would ever know.

MAKE MEMORIES

My dad has been on this world over 70 years and has a new story every time I talk to him. He has been all over the country, met thousands of people, and has no regrets. He has a million stories because he spent his life making memories. Memories are some of the best things life has to offer. The only memories that matter are the eventful ones. Go out and embrace the world, be positive and have fun.

40 years from now, these three simple tips will make us all a fountain of knowledge and memories for our kids and grandchildren.

June is also Men’s Health month! As a man, I somehow never knew that (I apparently am a terrible man for not knowing).

Fellas, if you have struggled with consistency with your diet and exercise lately or have not started at all (which is okay), use this month as a springboard to living a healthier life. Women on average are outliving us by five years. If you are married, have kids, or even if you are single, it is not too late.

As usual, if you guys have any tips, advice, or concerns please let me know. FYI, SUMMER SIXTEEN IS HERE!
