Terms of the Internship:

1. Work is to be carried out for LRT, in close collaboration with any partner(s) where relevant.

2. The internship program at LRT is designed to provide students and recent graduates with an opportunity to be involved with a company and attain real world job experience while learning the area of their trade and the supporting areas of LRT.

3. Interns are expected to work between 15 and 30 hours a week during an 8 to 12 week unpaid internship period and balance 1-3 projects at a time.

4. The initial 8-12 week unpaid internship can easily turn to a paid basis, after which the position will be based on a longer-term contract. A compensation for a longer-term internship or independent contract will be based on performance. A review of performance will be held two months after the start date and be drafted by Legal Council.

5. Candidates must demonstrate excellent academic performance, pursuing a degree in TV/film production, advertising, journalism, creative writing or a related field, as well as strong communication, organizational and critical-thinking skills.

This document is a job description and holds the key points of LRT’s agreement with you. It is not a contract. Any agreements will be shared upon a preliminary approval of the above.

• Direct experience in analytical research essential.

• Familiarity with data journalism

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Visual communication skills

• Ability to collate information and create charts/maps with standard spreadsheet tools.

• Ability to work with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

• Knowledge of design tools such as Illustrator and InDesign a plus

• Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.

• Ability to work with a team remotely

• Enthusiasm for information, learning and understanding things

• An eye for a good story. Ability to identify the key facts that illustrate the overall picture

• Ability to think laterally, identifying compelling analogies and unexpected data sources

• Strong attention to detail and sense for accuracy

• Ability to identify new research avenues, yet to be responsive to input from others

• Ability to work and remain meticulous under pressure

• Ability to identify and apply new tools where relevant
