Formation History and Milestone of UAP-Guam
2016 April 22
The group of interested Philippine RA’s that was called
upon decided to meet & establish UAP Guam USA chapter
spearheaded by Arch. Neiljene Mercado with the help of PNP
Sonny Rosal. Discussions about the benefits of forming a
chapter and being part of UAP were made over pizza at Papa
John’s in Tamuning.
2016 August 9
Another meeting was held and attended by 16 interested
Philippine RA’s hopeful in forming UAP Guam USA chapter.
The attendees proceeded to vote for chapter officers and
board members on a way to move forward with the formation
of the chapter. The event was sponsored by Guam Hardwood
at Chao’s Restaurant.
After this event came the long process of recruiting other
interested Philippine RA’s who wanted to join the chapter
and make a difference in Guam’s built environment. Most of
the members settled their arrears and made themselves of
good standing with their respective chapters and the mother
organization. It was made possible with team effort and
contribution of all aspiring chapter members.
2016 November 8
Emergency/Extreme Architects group was formed
concurrently with UAP Guam USA Chapter as proposed by
PNP Sonny Rosal.
2016 December 11
A local radio interview was conducted to call on other
Philippine RA’s on island who are interested to join the
formation of UAP Guam USA chapter. It was attended by the
elected officers together with PNP Sonny Rosal.
2016 Last Quarter
Gears began moving for UAP Guam USA chapter as the
year 2016 draws to a close. The first BOD, first GMM and
first Christmas party as held during this time and was well
attended by eager chapter members.
2017 February
UAP Guam USA chapter started inquiring about forming a
non-profit organization to make the group legal here on
island. With professional help, the group was able to file the
application and is now being processed.
2017 June
Chapter President Induction held in the Philippines at Padayon
Manila Hotel was attended by UAP Guam USA Chapter
President Arch. Neiljene Mercado. Attending the 2-day
event for seminars, trainings and fellowship with current &
previous UAP National Presidents, UAP National Officers, and
other UAP Chapter Presidents from different region in the
Philippines and Overseas Chapters.
2017 July
UAP Guam USA chapter held a logo-making contest among
its members to have its very own logo to be used for official
functions. The winner was announced on October 14, 2017.
2017 October
For World Architecture Day, UAP Guam USA chapter attended
the meeting with Guam Preservation Trust regarding the
46 UNITED ARCHITECTS OF THE PHILIPPINES
Inalajan Project. This project is being undertaken together
with the American Institute of Architects, Guam and UAP
Guam USA chapter is extending necessary assistance to make
the project a success.
2017 November
National Architecture Week (NAW) was celebrated with
the students of San Vincente Catholic School thru a poster
making contest entitled “My Dream Christmas House in the
Land of Hafa Adai” which wishes to focus in encouraging
participating students to develop and enhance their creativity
and imagination through Architecture.
UAP Guam USA chapter has also started planning for
chartering to be held in UAP HQ, this is a first for a foreign
chapter to hold its chartering in the Philippines and in no less
than the UAP Headquarters.
2017 December 30
UAP Guam USA chapter Chartering and 1st Induction of
Officers, Board of Directors and Members.
