Art is my inpsiration
We all have things or situations that inspire us to the fullest. My
source of inspiration as Creative Director og UGRW happens to
be art. The moment I see a work of magnificent art...I start to
think about clothes, and the concepts to go with those clothes. I
find myself wondering what texture fits the art. My point is that
art plays a vital role in UGRW collaborations offer to this
community of talent.
Oakland has some unbelievable art and artists. More than a
means to express one's self, the art scene is heavily apart of
Oakland’s budding economy, and business growth. Art
permeates the Oakland landscape. Whether it be on trashcans,
to sculpture made out of recycle materials Oakland houses raw
talent at its best, and UGRW will never stop promoting this
resource of under recognized talent. The community really has
taken to creative artwork. Businesses in Oakland often have
artwork displayed, and true to the spirit of this city- local artists
are at the forefront for this exposure. It's a treat to be able see
an upcoming artists work in a restaurant, then later that night at
a local beer garden. The art gallery's in Oakland posses a
particular type of uniqueness around what's being created, and
have a real effect on the type of artists who are drawn to
Oakland.
Art in Oakland has taken off, becoming a strong voice for the
community. As Creative Director of UGRW, I work in Oakland
because of infectious creative juices I find through art. It goes
without saying, it was an great opportunity to collaborate with
an art gallery in the heart of Oakland-Warehouse 416. UGRW is
quite grateful to be in the midst of the Oakland movement of
artists and entrepreneurs.
