HEALING TREE
The Dhawa brand
borrows its name
and philosophy
from Anogeissus
latifolia, the Dhawa
tree of East India.
As beautiful as it is
useful, this small and
hardy tree flourishes
even in eroded land.
Blessed with healing
properties, the plant
has long been used in
Ayurvedic medicine,
from reducing toothache pain to curing
scorpion stings and
common colds.
Every space is about hibernating in style, even the
eclectically designed lobby: Void features relaxation pods
for waiting in comfort. For many, that feeling of wellbeing
is as much about food as it is about relaxation. The all-day
restaurant and bar: Nook ensures that no one will go hungry,
whatever the craving, whenever it strikes. Add to this a spa,
fitness centre and kids club and that’s pretty much every
desire of the whole family covered. With memorable extras
like neon lights, pop operatic music and even surprise
daily boosters, the Dhawa provides a full and exciting
sensory experience, for every guest.
Following the first openings in the Caribbean jewel
of Cuba, and Bo’ao in Hainan Island, Dhawa will launch
in destinations in China: Pu’er, Leishan and Luo Yang that
are also new to the Banyan Tree group, before moving into
Thailand with hotels in Bangkok and Phuket.

experiences they can enjoy, with a thirst
for knowledge and a keenness to meet
like-minded people to make colourful
memories that count.
Dhawa will open in July 2016 in
Cuba. This will be The Banyan Tree
Group’s first foray into the Caribbean
market, one that feels right at home in
the spectacular local vistas. The 516 key
property of Dhawa Cayo Las Brujas is
nestled in an area that is famous for its
acres of coral reefs, a popular attraction
for marine enthusiasts.
Opening in destinations that
encourage exploration, Dhawa will
be found in places with a cool vibe
and a colourful history, like Bo’ao
on China’s Hainan Island, opening in
August 2016. With 346 keys, it will be
the first hotel in Bo’ao to offer a highquality spa — with over half the guest
rooms facing the sea.
Designed for the savvy traveller
who wants distinct experiences, Dhawa
is a contemporary, casual and creative
hotel where the guests call the shots.
At Dhawa, guests are encouraged to
choose who they want to be and what
they want to be, whether that’s to wrap
up in a luxury duvet for complete
rejuvenation or plug in a laptop to
concentrate on some work.
The Dhawa concept is all about
comfort. Casual and compact touch
points inspire a customised stay with
both local flair and convenience.
Expertly designed cocoons are the
perfect environment in which to choose
work or a sweet spot of relaxation — all
from beneath a luxurious 300-threadcount duvet. Propped up on plush,
