JASON BALZARANO is a PhD Candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant at
Keele. The music that defined the jazz-rock fusion era of America throughout the
1970s has interested Jason since his teenage years. As an aspiring academic, he is
keen to promote further study and consideration towards what is an underexplored
music idiom. A generalised view of the fusion aesthetic favours a continuing dialogue
