094 Scotland | Full Member Elvingston Science Centre Elvingston Science Centre’s objective is to provide a unique, innovative business environment, supporting a growing nucleus of high-tech, knowledge-based companies. The Centre is designed to enhance the technological and economic growth potential of East Lothian in Scotland. The Elvingston Science Centre was established in 1997 and promotes the commercialisation of University spin-outs and the incubation of new high-technology companies with prospects of rapid growth. The first 10,000 sq ft unit was developed by Scottish Enterprise, East Lothian Council, and Simpson Research Ltd. Unit Two will substantially add to the lettable space currently available. The centre has generated more than 150 technology-based jobs and is still growing. Simpson Research Ltd, the site owner and manager, is also involved in several virtual incubation companies in different locations. Direct links with the United Kingdom Science Park Association (UKSPA) and United Kingdom Business Incubation Limited (UKBI) are well established, and will help support industry-wide best practices. The Centre works closely with the many universities in Scotland, including Edinburgh Napier, Heriot-Watt, and Edinburgh University. L and The Science Centre is situated in the grounds of the Elvingston House estate, which is owned by Dr and Mrs David Simpson. Unit 1 occupies approximately one acre, with scope for a total of 60,000 sq ft development in the future. UKSPA Directory 2017 Elvingston Science Centre is situated 15 minutes east of Edinburgh city, and is located just off the A1, and only minutes from Longniddry train station. Facilities Offered The Centre provides flexible unit sizes from 350 sq ft to 1,540 sq ft, fully managed reception facilities, and office services, within an attractive setting. The Centre offers flexible tenancy arrangements, furnished accommodation, infrastructure with power, data, voice main communications, and integral conference facilities. There is a 24 hour, tenant-controlled alarm system with CCTV. There are a range of tenant support services, telephone answering, with digital and analogue telephones with DDI/voicemail facilities, broadband access, word processing, photocopying, report binding, confidential document destruction, facsimile and postal services, use of conference and meeting rooms with audio-visual and presentation equipment, fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine, and tenant tuck shop.
