In the 2016 budget statement it was
announced that a new ground breaking
M1 11 mins by car
research and development-led Enterprise
East Midlands Airport 9 miles
Zone (EZ) would be created in
Loughborough mainline station
Leicestershire. The new science and
hi-tech manufacturing-themed EZ is set
to bring nearly 25,000 new jobs and
N e a r by
£180million over the next 25 years
through the creation of a ‘zone of
excellence’ to support new and growing
businesses to bring their innovative ideas
and products to the market.

LIFE SCIENCES OPPORTUNIT Y ZONE
Building on the success in attracting over
£20m of investment on site from existing
partners that moved into the site, Almac,
ARM Holding and 3M, a consortium of
partners from life sciences industry,
academia and government from across the
region was formed to plan how to work
together to realise the campus’ potential
and support the growth of the UK Life
Sciences industry. ■
