Granby Martin is an independent firm of
chartered surveyors with over 20 years’
experience in the science park sector. We
have advised various parks at differing
stages of their development, from initial
concept through to advice on tenant
demand, marketing, and letting.
CHARTERED SURVE YORS
Our experience covers a wide range
of commercial property activities
including property management,
asset management, rent review and
leases renewal, lettings, project co-
ordination, and general commercial
property advice.
Granby Martin has traditionally
specialised in the small business sector,
acting for many private and corporate
clients, both as owners and tenants of
property throughout the UK.
As property managers we place
great importance on getting to know
the property and its location and
understanding the needs of the tenant
businesses and adopting a flexible
approach to tenant needs, whilst
ensuring that landlords’ financial
aspirations are met and ensuring
compliance with statutory obligations.
Our general surveying expertise
covers strategic investment advice to
clients, to maximise financial returns
as well as day-to-day rent collection
and tenant liaison, the setting of service
charge and expenditure budgets, and
their subsequent implementation. We
deal with the letting of property on
behalf of landlords as well as seeking
premises for tenants.
THE SCIENCE PARK SECTOR
As a firm we have been involved with
the sector since 1993, during that time
managing science parks, providing
tenant demand advice as well as
strategic advice on the development
of science parks and innovation centres,
and the letting of space to science and
technology businesses.
We understand the unique nature
of the science park offering to
businesses and know that traditional
property marketing fails to attract the
majority of science park tenants, and
that networking and the building of
links to stakeholders and other
Se c tor s
interested parties is usually of
greater importance.
We appreciate the link between
research establishments, business
support, and the property offering,
a fact poorly understood by the
surveying sector.
We have acted for several past and
present members of UKSPA in our 23 year
association and continue to offer advice
on best practice in property matters to
members, both informally and formally.
Paul Carver has personally been
involved with the sector during the firm’s
association with science parks and is also
a past director of UKSPA. ■
