The Park is one of the world’s most famous telecoms and computing addresses, with a campus that covers 100 acres. Adastr al Park – Innovating for a connected world Adastral Park was previously home to the RAF’s Royal Flying Corps Experimental Station and the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment. Martlesham Heath soon became world renowned for testing both military and civilian aeroplanes. So with its well-established links to innovation, it was fitting that BT relo cated its main research centre to Martlesham from Dollis Hill in London in 1969. From pioneering work in optical technologies and digital switching through to work in advanced software techniques and protocols, Adastral Park is recognised as one of the leading centres of technical innovation in the communication world and one of the largest ICT research and development facilities in the world. INNOVATION MARTLESHAM Adastral Park is also home to Innovation Martlesham (IM) – a “collaborative ecosystem” of small, medium and large technology companies. It provides: • Physical office space: IM provides both flexible furnished and unfurnished office space, on a secure site, from 150 to 10,000 sq ft with access to high-speed broadband, meeting rooms and free on-site parking • Business Incubator: companies are accepted into the Incubator via a selection process. The Incubator then nurtures technology companies in their early stages, offering free office space, free business mentoring, subsidised voice and data comms and co-location with other IM high-tech companies • Business Accelerator: the Accelerator offers a six-month structured programme of activities focused on growth. Who should apply? Your company should be an incorporated organisation, have a product, service or proof of concept, be self-funded and have a six-month business plan that has clear objectives • Business Club: this entry level offering provides a “value for money” option that supports the demand from businesses and entrepreneurs • Business Support and Mentor Group: free support and guidance is available to IM companies and access to a group of domain experts • Networking Events and Opportunities: IM hosts free monthly networking events, in association with IP-Network.
