Silverstone Park, managed by MEPC, is adjacent to the British Formula 1
Grand Prix circuit, at the heart of the Silverstone Technology Cluster. Over
70 companies are on site, many of which are high tech companies with
capabilities in advanced engineering, electronics, and software development.
There are also a number of professional service companies on site, which
support the high-tech engineering activity in the area. Companies apply their
capabilities to a wide variety of sectors including medical, aerospace, defence,
automotive and motorsport.
History and objectives
Having hosted the British Formula 1
Grand Prix since 1948, Silverstone is an
iconic brand with an illustrious history.
In September 2013, Silverstone Park –
130 acres of land with planning consent –
was acquired by MEPC.
Currently on site there are more than
70 occupiers employing more than 600
people in over 400,000 sq ft of
accommodation. The property offer
includes a full range of facilities from
small flexible office space in the
Silverstone Park Innovation Centre to
workshops and hybrid buildings.
Ultimately, MEPC’s vision is to
create a leading global destination for
high-tech engineering, innovation and
business development.
Progress to date
Since taking over Silverstone Park in
2013, MEPC has achieved the following:
• Creation of a metrology facility
for high-tech companies on-site
and within the surrounding
Silverstone Technology Cluster,
in collaboration with Hexagon
Manufacturing Intelligence
• Launch of a metrology network, to
further benefit high-tech SMEs and
start-up companies
• Collaboration with finance, industry,
and local authority partners to form
the Silverstone Technology Cluster
with the key ai ms of promoting the
capabilities of the cluster and
organising high-tech networking
• Acquisition and letting of 82,500 sq ft
Buckingham Road units
• Speculative development of new
125,000 sq ft of industrial units
• Enterprise Zone in collaboration
with Bucks Thames Valley LEP
• Grown the occupier community
from 50 to over 70
• £13m committed to new utilities
(gas, water, electricity)
• Installation of 21 MVA
electrical supply
• Installation of superfast
broadband.
