SETsquared provides mentoring, access to investors and corporate innovators, and a wide range of industry experts through its network and training programmes. Its business incubation programme is ranked by the University Business Incubator Index as the best in the world, and over the past 15 years it has helped over 1,200 high-tech start-ups to develop and raise more than £1bn of investment. Independent research carried out by Warwick Economics estimates the economic impact of SETsquared member companies to be £3.8bn over this period, with the creation of 9,000 jobs, and predicts that these companies will go on to deliver a further £7.3bn of impact to the UK economy in the decade ahead. SETsquared has physical incubation space available in Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey, some located at science parks, and also offers SETsquared as a service to other locations and specific technology sectors to support the development of high-tech businesses. So far these include Basingstoke, Farnborough, Goonhilly, Woking, four Academic Health Science Networks, and the UK Space Agency. SETsquared supports the development of a high-tech entrepreneurial community in these locations and industry sectors to develop potential tech start-ups. These companies then go through SETsquared’s acclaimed entrepreneurship programme, which will help them to hone their business plans, tighten their propositions, and gain access to investors. If selected these companies can then become members of SETsquared and gain access to the full range of support offered, raising investment as required. In addition to the access to training programmes and experts who can help accelerate their business, we also have a number of software tool providers who give preferential access to their products at little or no cost. Anyone interested in accessing SETsquared support or partnering should contact Karen Brooks to discuss the opportunity further. ■
