The National Innovation Centre for
Ageing (NICA) aims to facilitate the

Newcastle Laboratory will provide over
70,000 sq ft of specialist facilities for the
flourishing life sciences and healthcare
sector in the region, offering high-quality
incubation and grow-on space to meet
the needs of innovative businesses.

bespoke business acceleration service,
including ready access to expert advice
and industry

15 mins from Newcastle Airport
is due to open in August 2018.
Le arning and Te aching Centre
Plans by Newcastle University for a
new £29m Learning and Teaching Centre
are progressing apace. The building’s
sweeping curve has been designed to
visually connect two public spaces
adjacent to the project and sit within
the Science Central masterplan. This
curve is formed of a “Learning Arc” that
is positioned around the triangular form
of a flexible auditorium. Due to open in
September 2019, the Centre will feature
state-of-the art learning facilities for up
to 2,200 students across three floors, plus
exhibition space, café, and expansive
social learning spaces. ■
