Unique Selling Points Based at Treliske, Truro, the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre (HWIC) opened in 2013. HWIC is a business acceleration facility for knowledge-based businesses within sectors supporting health and/or wellbeing. It is a state-of- the-art three-storey building with a lower conference area and total net rentable floor space of 2,200m², including production and manufacturing units, and a further 500m² of meeting room and conference space. HWIC has been designed and built to the BREEAM Excellence standard, which is one of the highest levels of environmental accreditation available for new buildings. This ensures a low environmental impact throughout its lifespan. The Centre uses 60% less energy than a conventional office building due to its eco-friendly design, including a biomass boiler, natural ventilation, and a water harvesting system. Many of the materials were sourced locally, including Cornish Granite and sustainable Cornish Cedar wood. N e a r by Business Support A dedicated on-site business management team offers all aspects of business support for each stage of the business continuum, from opportunity recognition through to start-up, stabilisation and growth. HWIC facilitates individually tailored business mentoring clinics, events, workshops, peer-to-peer support, and access to private sector investment opportunities. Facilities and Services Accommodating up to 70 enterprises, HWIC facilitates business growth by providing dynamic office space, access to tailored business support services, conference facilities, informal networking areas, first-class connectivity through its own fibre pipe, and affiliation to a vibrant and collaborative business community. This includes a shared 20 desk Formation Zone to support the incubation of early stage businesses.
