Darts Masters Series II Riley’s Darts Masters crowned their second Darts Masters Champion in Wolverhampton on 23rd November. Tony Randall from Birmingham who qualified at Riley’s Erdington pipped Shaun Lovett from Essex, a qualifier from Riley’s Colchester to win the coveted Amateur Title. It was another thrilling Darts Masters series with 1300 people challenging to get to the National Final stage and take there share of the £3,250 up for grabs. Tony a regular on the darting scene in Birmingham whose last success in Wolverhampton was reaching the final over the Winmau Wolverhampton Open had some tough opposition in the final. Shaun’s most recent success on the big stage was winning the World Youth Masters in October. In securing the 7-3 final win Tony had a 79.98 average and Shaun throwing a 76.95 average. The final stats included a 141 highest checkout by Tony, 3 180s from Tony and 6 140s from Shaun. The final was contested by 94 other players coming from all over the country. Tony had to make his way through the last 8 stage beating Dennis Harbour 5-3 in the Quarters and Dave Wicks 6-5 in the Semis. Shauns passage through the last 8 included a 5-1 win over Jamie Ellam in the quarters and a semi final encounter with ex PDC player Steve Evans who he beat 6-2. Riley’s Masters Tournament Director Ben Pearce said of this event “it was another great Darts Series and the talent that we have seen at the qualifiers is truly exceptional”. Ben also added “it was great to see 1300 people enter the qualifiers starting back in August and we look forward to announcing Series III £20,000 Darts Masters in early 2014”.
