Czech Open BDO stars aplenty headed over to the Czech Republic for the 2013 Czech Open on 23rd November, but it was Scott Waites who will have come home the happiest after the current Lakeside World Champion claimed the overall victory. Waites came through early round clashes with Ivo Tretera, Evert Bergman and Peter Craig without dropping a single leg, before a 4-2 victory over Envin Kavaoglu in the last 32 saw him reach the points paying positions. Waitees was not done there however and he went on to defeat Martin Atkins 4-0 in the last 16, before a quarter final victory over fellow Yorkshireman Garry Thompson set up a mouth watering semi-final against Daryl Fitton. In the event Waites was able to defeat Fitton 5-2, before moving on to defeat close friend Gary Robson 6-3 in a well contested final. Deta Hedman meanwhile, claimed victory in the ladies event. After a 4-1 victory over Iveta Bruska in the quarter finals she went on to defeat Ann Willkomm 4-0 in the semi-finals before completing the victory with a 5-3 win over Aileen de Graaf in the final.
