process eliminating sixth seed
Alan Norris. The Newcastle-based
thrower began his campaign with a
5-1 victory over 17-year-old Dutch
sensation Jeffrey de Zwaan, and
when Norris then defeated the
young Dutch protege 5-2 the stage
was set for a thrilling final group
match between the English duo.

It was Noppert who got off to
a flying start, coming from 4-2
down to secure a 5-4 victory
over Fitton. When O’Shea then
defeated his compatriot 5-1 the
stage was set for a final match
showdown between O’Shea and
Noppert.
