Darting Stories Bob Anderson Former World Champion, Bob Anderson, has said that his awful luck with injuries in sport when he was a youngster was the main reason why he took up darts properly. ‘The Limestone Cowboy’ explained that his first love was football, but after a bad injury he went on to darts and never looked back. He said:  “That’s how it started, darts was always there but it was a backburner, football was my first love and I played to a relatively decent standard of amateur football. “I smashed my left knee and it was cruciate and lateral ligaments. I carried on playing without surgery, I did have the cartilages out, and I carried on playing for another five or six years with more bandages that Tutankhamen and I would trot out onto the pitch looking like a mummy. “It got so bad that I had to walk away from football and it broke my heart, I never thought I would see the day that I wouldn’t play football, it was in my blood, my family blood and I didn’t want to pack it in at all, but I had to. “It left a huge void in my life and darts filled it and like they say one door closes and another one opens. “I had a natural aptitude if you like, I hit my first 180 when I was seven in a co \]][ۈ
