Photo: PDC/Lawrence Lustig he’s around darts and this has served him well for many years. Now he’s got past the initial teething problems with adapting to his new look body out of the way, the new, fitter Taylor may indeed manage to keep up with the younger players for the next few years. Laura Church, Taylor’s nutritionist, says he is “more mentally alert and has so much more energy,” and that he’s “improved his posture and increased his lean muscle tissue.” The next real test for Taylor will come at the World Matchplay next month, where he has triumphed for the last six years. But with non-seeds set to include: Kim Huybrechts, Jamie Caven, Michael Smith and Stephen Bunting among others, the possibility of an early Blackpool exit shouldn’t be written off. Should Taylor lose his Matchplay crown in a similar manner to his world title, any voice in his head telling him to stop may get a tiny bit louder. Then again don’t be surprised if he goes and wins it to shut the doubters up!
