in its entirety and I was taken away by the hospitality
of the England Darts Organisation, the friendliness
of the officials, and the sportsmanship of the players
and fans. I can remember seeing England’s Scott
Mitchell buying Wales’ Tony Bradley a drink after he
beat him 4-2 on the Saturday evening. I doubt you
would see that sort of sportsmanship in any other
sport.
Wales will host the tournament next year and they
will be hoping for better luck in front of their own
fans.

A couple of emotional trophy presentations wrapped
up the presentation ceremony on the Sunday. Welsh
Darts Organisation Chairman / Team Manager Malcolm
Hawkins presented Welsh Ladies captain Julie
Gore with a special cap to commemorate her 50th
international cap, and Jim MacNeil, the secretary
of the Highland Darts Association, was presented
with two cheques after generous fundraising for the
late Bryan Whyte’s family, as well as Bryan Whyte’s
International shirt, which was signed by all of the
players who competed at Halifax. The presentation
brought the house down, and I doubt there was a dry
eye in the house at that moment.
