Premier League: Week 11
Dave Chisnall 7-4 Peter Wright
With the pressure of the relegation battle off Dave Chisnall continued
to impress as he inflicted a fourth defeat in five matches on Peter
Wright.
Chisnall, however, was in excellent form and he replied by landing two
180s and a 170 over the next two legs, which he won to secure himself
at least a point, and despite Wright taking the tenth leg it was Chisnall
who soon had both points wrapped up.
“This was one of my best games this season and I’m glad I hit my doubles
tonight,” said Chisnall. “I was really disappointed last week - totally
gutted - when I missed my chance to get a point against Raymond, but
my finishing was good.
“I wanted to stay calm on my doubles because sometimes I rush, and I
steadied myself tonight and they went in.
“I’m taking one game at a time and if I keep winning I can push towards
the top four. This was good because it keeps me in the running.”
“I’m positive
and everything’s
going well at the
moment”
Raymond van Barneveld
Raymond van Barneveld 7-1 Robert Thornton
Raymond van Barneveld moved temporarily to the top of the table
as he produced an excellent display of darts to brush aside Robert
Thornton.
The Dutchman landed a 180 in the opening leg to produce an immediate
break of throw, only to be pegged back as Thornton responded with a
maximum of his own in the second leg.
From then on in however, it was one way traffic as Barney, who landed
only one further maximum but piled on the pressure with no less than
eight 140s took leg after leg on his way to a convincing victory.
The Dutchman ended the match with an average in excess of 99, whilst
his opponent failed even to break the 90 mark as he was cut adrift at
the foot of the table.
“Robert won a Players Championship last weekend so I knew he was
playing well and that it would be a big task tonight, so I’m really happy
to get such a great win,” said van Barneveld.
“Every week’s a new chance to get two points and I’m very pleased
because I’ve put in so much effort and practice, and my self-belief is
coming back. I’m positive and everything’s going well at the moment.”

Checkouts of 104 and 112 helped the St Helens ace to race into a 4-0
lead, before Wright found his feet and responded to claw back three
legs.
