We Review... Darts Match: A New Darts App From Motionlab There are a number of darts games no available as apps for the wide variety of mobile platforms that have become prevalent over recent years and they have enjoyed mixed success. As a darts fan I have often found myself downloading and playing a variety of these apps with a mixed response. It was therefore with some slight scepticism that I was recently presented with an opportunity to review the latest of these games entitled ‘Darts Match’. I am pleased to say however that I thoroughly enjoyed the game and was engaged enough by it to delay writing this review whilst I had a few more games! The game has been developed by Motionlab, for whom it is a first foray into the mobile games sector. What They Say “Game on! Motionlab, one of the North of England’s leading full-service digital agencies, has launched its first mobile game, ‘Darts Match’.” “Darts Match uses an intuitive swipe motion to aim and throw darts, allowing solo players to compete in standard games of 501 and 301 and Around The Clock.” “Boasting cross-platform play for iOS, Android and Windows Phone users, Darts Match allows players to challenge others via Facebook, Smart Match or an in app search by Darts Match username.” “The game has already received backing from one of the sport’s heavyweights with Darts Match players’ taking to the oche and aiming at an officially approved Unicorn darts board, as utilised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).” What Do We Think Darts Match is not the first darts game to use the swiping motion to throw the dart, and like many others it can be a little tricky to master. I do believe however that it is the best representation yet of an actual throw and after a short while I was able to start finding the treble twenty and winning legs. It is clear to me that a lot of development work has gone into the app and it has paid off, the interface is clean and intuitive and the fact that you can log in through Facebook to play against your friends is an excellent addition that many other similar
