Simon Whitlock Where Now For The Australian's Season? By his own high standards, Australian ace Simon Whitlock had what can only be described as a worful Betway Premier League campaign, albeit somewhat quietly as Phil taylor’s poor form early took the headlines. The former European Champion picked up only one victory and was relegated after nine weeks of action when he found himself at the foot of the table. This year in general has been a far cry from Whitlock’s past glories, indeed if it were a school report it would probably read ‘Could do better’, and whilst there have been reports of ill health, in the form of blocked ears and ear infections, there can be no doubt that he must be worried about his form and wondering where this season will go for him. Of course Whitlock’s current ranking, 4th in the PDC Order of Merit at the time of writing, will ensure that he at least plays in all of the season’s major tournaments, but with plenty of money to defend it will only take a few poor performances for him to plummet down the rankings. There are a whole host of players coming through at the moment, James Wade is returning to form, Peter Wright is playing the darts of his life and Dave Chisnall and Raymond van Barneveld will be boosted by good Premier League campaigns. The future is far from all bleak however, indeed a win and two draws from his final four matches of the Premier League season will mean that at the very least the Australian ace will have something to build on as he moves into the remainder of the season.
