sensational 10-8 victory

Jenkins opened up well,

two legs, the second
of which being an
11-darter, before van
Gerwen was able to get
off the mark in the third
leg.

Jenkins continued to
apply the screw as he raced into a 4-1 lead at the first break, before
the pair traded 180s in the sixth leg which Jenkins again took with a
56 checkout.
World Champion van Gerwen surged back and had restored parity at 5-5
going in to the second break, but Jenkins was in no mood to relinquish
his latest chance at winning a major tournament and after steadying
himself with a minute off stage he returned to win five of the last eight
legs, securing a 10-8 victory.
Adrian Lewis found life somewhat more comfortable as he overcame
Mervyn King 10-6. The Stoke-based thrower raced into a 4-1 lead at the
first break and was averaging over 103.
King did produce a response during the second session, closing the
gap to 6-4 at the second break, with Lewis needing to produce a 107
checkout to maintain his lead.
When the players returned to the stage King initially closed the gap
further but it was Lewis who was playing the better and the two-time
World Champion closed the match out with relative ease.
Final
Adrian Lewis produced arguably the best display of his career at exactly
the right moment as he averaged 109.13 in an 11-1 victory that left
Jenkins without a major title despite reaching an eighth final.
Lewis claimed the first two legs of the match, before Jenkins replied
