NEWS & GOSSIP
The London Cigar Scene Merry Go round
In a month reminiscent of the height of the
football transfer window there have been a
number of staff moves around the cigar terraces
of London
The imminent (although still with no confirmed
date) reopening of the Lanesborough sees Neil
Millington move back from the Corinthia to
prepare the Lanesborough for opening. He will
be joined there by Luca Tramontana who moves
the short distance east from the Wellesley. To fill
the gap at the Corinthia Paola Paolillo has left No
10 Manchester street to take up a role as Lounge
Manager at the Corinthia where she is responsible
for the beautiful new Garden Lounge. We have a
full profile on Paola and the Garden Lounge later
in this month’s magazine (See Page 13)
C.Gars Summer Auction
The summer C.Gars
Auction is just a few days
off and it has just been
announced that there will
be online bidding available
in this auction. So while we
recommend that you enjoy
the comfort of the Bulgari
Hotel, you will also be able
to relax at home and bid
away from your laptop.
H&F Party Ticket sales
I am told that tickets for the Hunters and Frankau
summer party on the 19th of June have not quite
sold out so if you want to rub shoulders with the
great and the good of the UK cigar scene it’s not
too late to snap up a ticket. Contact Dawn Ireland
at Hunters & Frankau on 020 7471 8409 or email
[email protected].
H&F Anniversario Humidor sales
Reports from Hunters and Frankau some two
weeks ahead of the official on sale date for the
225 Anniversario Humidors indicate that pre
release interest accounts for twice the number of
humidors that have been made. So if you manage
to get your hands on one you will be very lucky.
Licensee of the Year
Congratulations to Keith
and Diane Marsden of
The Prince of Wales
Mosley, who have
beaten off extremely
tough competition to win the British Institute
of Innkeeping Licensee of the year award. You
may remember that we profiled the wonderful
’Prince’ in our April Issue but just in case you
missed it you can find it here.
New Joya de Nicaragua
The cigar industry has come a long way since
Derek Harris first visited Nicaragua in the 1970’s
and you can read the story of his extraordinary trip
on page 32 of this month’s magazine.
As if by magic the publication of our story coincides with
the
launching in the UK of the Joya de Nicaragua Rosalones, one
of the original brands produced since the beginning of Joya de
Nicaragua in 1968. Rosalones are made with 100% Nicaraguan
Filler, Binder and Wrapper with an earthy and rich character. An
authentic Nicaraguan Puros at an affordable price.
Joya de Nicaragua Rosalones will be available in three sizes: Rosalones 342 (3” x 42), 446 (4” x 46)
and 448 (4 ¾” x 48)
