Pizza on the Beach

I have fond memories of childhood beach picnics where all the food is covered in sand, and you're fighing the seagulls off over soggy ham sandwiches. But a new breed of portable Wood Fired Pizza Ovens such as the Uuni 2S mean that it's possible to have pizza as good as you would enjoy in Italy while sat on the beach in the English Riviera.

Plan ahead and make up a wonderful overnight sponge dough using Italian 'OO' flour and allow it to prove in a large bowl with a secure lid, and take along semolina flour, passata, grated mozzarella, pepperoni extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil. (you need fresh basil).

Th Uuni 2S takes about 10-15 minutes to heat up to temperature 350-400 deg C. We rolled the pizzas nice and thin, topped with passata, then pepperoni, mozzarella and fresh basil. They cooked in under 2 minutes, and were perfect.

We certainly created a stir on the beach that evening, with people wondering what we were cooking, I guess their own soggy sandwiches looked a little less appealing that evening.
