Life as a BBQ team.

What’s life like as a BBQ team?

We’ve been lucky to have done quite well in contests over the years, which has given us opportunities to compete against some of the best teams in the world at major invitational events like the American Royal Invitational, Jack Daniels Invitational and we just came back from the Sonny’s Smokin’ Showdown Invitational in Florida.

We do spend a lot of time on the road!!! In 2015 we drove something like 18,000 miles to get to 14 contests in Europe and then we also flew to the US to compete over there as well. We do get to see some amazing sites that we probably would never have seen, and we get to cook in fantastic locations at awesome events and eat some fantastic food in the countries which we visit (although we also end up eating a lot of meals at motorway services).

Then you’ve got the social side of it! We’ve met so many people over the years all with a common interest and some of them have become great friends who we still speak to regularly and meet up with outside of the BBQ season.

Doing well on the BBQ circuit has also opened up other opportunities for us with people contacting us to cater for them. We also started running BBQ classes in 2015 and we have more booked for 2016. We try to pack in as much information as we can, and they’re also a lot of fun.
