Skills Week 2017-2018 was put together with a focus on developing Approaches to Learning Skills (ATLs). This was done with the overall goal being to help all students complete the diploma programme as successfully as possible as well as to aid their future move from UISG and into University life. Skills Week this year saw students engaged in a practical exploration of the ATL’s. Each day focused on a specific ATL and students were tasked with developing their understanding of the approaches used to frame their learning. Sessions included an overview of university applications, a MasterChef challenge, a dedicated focus on the curriculum core, research presentations, and an exploration of different methods of communication. The week culminated in an Amazing Race (just like the famous TV show!) in Zhujiang New Town where students faced a series of challenges based around the ATL skills developed throughout the week.
