Redtory Museum of Contemporary Art – DP Art Trip

The Year 11 & 12 Visual Art students enjoyed at fantastic day at Redtory on November 30th. The main exhibition on display was the work of Bill Viola – a contemporary video artist whose work concentrates on human experiences. The students watched a number of his large scale videos, showing examples of using water, fire and reflections to convey a message. There was also an exhibit by the Propeller Group – showing how artists can use a variety of interesting media in their work such as found objects and even ice! The students spent the day taking photographs and exploring the gallery spaces throughout the interesting surroundings that the museum is housed in. This was a really useful experience for the students who have gained inspiration for their individual themes and ideas for how to display their final pieces.
