This semester we have been studying Shakespeare in our English and Drama classes. This week, the English and Art departments came together to hold a Shakespeare festival in the school library. There were a lot of displays showcasing students’ work including letters and blogs about Shakespeare’s London. There were many things to look at in the center of the Library; some incredible models of The Globe theatre made by Year 8 English students, special books for everyone to read and a competition for both primary and secondary students to enter. We did not realize school library had so many different Shakespeare books; there are manga comics available, fiction, play scripts, art book and even plays that have been translated into different languages. We are lucky to have such a good library.

On the Tuesday lunch time during the Shakespeare Festival , Year 7 students had the opportunity to perform a monologue or a quote. Many students felt very nervous to perform but we all enjoyed it in the end. Some of the monologues were short some were long, but we could see everyone tried their best. It was great to see some work from students in other classes and it was nice to perform in the Library. We hope to have some more opportunities to learn in different ways outside of the classroom.
