Year 5

This was our last official day of camp and the wake up and breakfast part but the morning activity was rock climbing. Eapo told us that Yangshuo is a major destination for rock climbers and that the rock face we were climbing would be a piece of cake. Then he showed us how to wear the safety gear and told us to start climbing.

The climb up was really a test of skill and bravery. Many of the rocks are jagged and challenging to climb. While climbing up if we were tired we would yell "TAKE!" and the guy at the bottom would pull on the pully so we could rest a bit. After we reached the top we would tell the guy at the bottom and he would let us rappel down. Next we would find a rock to sit on and write about our adventure in our journals.

After lunch we went into the local village for village 'walk-and-talk'. We walked throughout the streets, over the weir of the river, saw some strange pink creatures (we later found out were apple snails) and asked the villagers questions about the rural life. We recorded the answers in our camp journals at dinner. We had a barbeque with grilled everything and then as a surprise we even got to drink soda. To top off our final evening, we had a campfire and even had s'mores and then went to bed.
