Year 3 Camp Reflections

“I enjoyed the bus ride very much because I felt safe. Setting up the tents was hot because we were in the sun. I liked walking to the canteen because it was nice but I was tired. I liked the food very much because it was delicious. I didn’t like swimming very much because I forgot my goggles at home. It was hot in the tents at night, so I didn’t enjoy it very much.”

“It was fun building the campfire. The talent show was funny and the kayaking was exciting”

“New things I learnt were… how to kayak and how to set up a tent properly. Y3 camp was great! But I was a bit homesick and I missed my cushion.”

“New things I learnt were that UISZ is a big big big school. Y3 camp was excellent and I wanted to stay for another week.”

“The bus ride was fun because I played Uno. Walking to the canteen was tiring.”

“Changes I would make would be: spend more time on kayaking.”

“Changes I would make would be: I would have no bugs, and not as hot. i would put air conditioner in the tent.”

“Changes I would make would be: I would go on camp my whole life.”

“Changes I would make would be: The snake we saw would be alive. A big air conditioner in the tent to make it cool.”

“The campfire was so so so good because we cooked the marshmallows.”

“The food was great, it’s like the food in 5 star hotels! Sleeping in tents was great but the bugs and wet tent walls, I’m no good for it.”

“It was so fun in the pool because I went to the deep pool.”

As our final day arrived, many children were eager to stay on, but many were also more than ready to go back to the comforts of home. Children spoke about their appreciation for mom’s cooking and playing with their siblings, along with being grateful for their comfortable beds and bathrooms that were close by. Packing bags and tents took the majority of the hot and humid morning before lunch and climbing onto buses to drive back to school, thus ending a successful Year 3 camp for 2016.
