Day 2

On our second day, we rose early to find our camp site misty and beautiful with thick dew on all of our tents, the sunrise promised us it was going to be another hot day. We went straight to breakfast with sleepy-eyed children still dressed in their pyjamas. On our return from breakfast we estimated and had to count the stairs up Turtle Hill, it was a stunning view from the top.

The Year 3 campers then patiently awaited the arrival of the Year 1 visitors while playing in the shade on the very different Jungle Gyms, no Pirate Ship here! The Year 3 children took their duty of showing the Year 1’s around campus very seriously and they even ensured they all had sunscreen and insect repellent on! Taking a look inside the dormitories was eye-opening for all as we saw how differently children live at this school.

After lunch, the Year 1’s bid us farewell and we moved onto some exciting outdoor activities. The children took great delight in completing their Nature Art pictures, building Model Rafts, completing a Nature Scavenger Hunt and of course the favourite was Kayaking across the lake. A refreshing swim to cool down was the reward for a day of activities in the sun. The talent show on our final night was a highlight for most and it gave the teachers insight into some talents we didn’t know the children had.
