trials all over the world have
been successful, there remain a
lot of challenges, one of the most
important being the bandwidth
capacity. Other challenges
concern the production in itself and the
broadcast equipment, like for example the
broadcast lenses.

remains the main hurdle in the face of Ultra
HD. Hardware is readily available and the
latest generations of smartphones and tablets
are able to support 4K. However, the road
between content and end device is long and
winding. There is a requirement for the
industry to film and encode content in 4K,
negotiate additional rights for Ultra HD, and
deploy technology that facilitates the secure
re-encoding and delivery of Ultra HD content
to multiscreen, which increasingly happens
