With some JCU degrees, you can choose to study a single or double major. Choosing a single major leads to one area of specialisation, with an opportunity to select from a broad range of different subjects to support your specialisation. Choose study that leads to a stimulating career in social work, psychology, counselling, media and publishing, administration, management of cultural institutions, advertising, government, health, welfare, policy, heritage, community development, and foreign affairs. Course choices equip you with skills in social planning, international aid, cultural heritage, environmental management and allied health professions. A double major allows you to focus on two separate, yet complementary study areas. For example, within the Bachelor of Arts you might combine Archaeology and Anthropology, or English and Human Services. Or, a choice of major within the Bachelor of Social Science can be combined with a major from the Bachelor of Arts. A single or double major usually require the same length of time to complete. Expand your knowledge to further your professional expertise through postgraduate study. A high academic performance throughout your JCU Bachelor degree can lead to Honours (a fourth year of study) – the stepping-stone to a research higher degree such as a Master or PhD.
