Your study Human Services is a professional field that deals with individual and social problems in a community environment and implements the processes and strategies to manage those problems. It involves assisting and supporting individuals and groups within a community to overcome difficulties and life changes. A selection of subjects for this course includes: Major overview Human Services is a flexible major that can be studied on campus or via flexible delivery. Studies in Human Services produces graduates with the communication, research, analytical and problem-solving skills that are essential in the support and social welfare sectors of industry, and in community services. Areas of specialisation include aged services, community work, child and family studies, disabilities studies, mental health services, rehabilitation counselling, youth services, corrective services, and more. Students can choose to combine this major with another Bachelor of Arts major (double major) such as Sociology, Political Science or Indigenous Australian Studies. To add further value it is possible to combine the Bachelor of Arts with another degree (see Joint degree opportunities). Major highlights This major aims to provide students with practical skills in addition to theoretical knowledge. Field trips, individual and group projects, and subjects in practical skills are taught by highly-qualified professionals with many years of experience in professional practice.
