Moving in with President Fuchs The President of the University of Florida, Kent Fuchs, and his wife, Linda receive a full residential experience filled with move-in events. by DAN LEPPER & RYAN WINGET photos by MATT PENDLETON In Spring 2014, an idea was born – President Fuchs and his wife, Linda would live on campus during Fall Move-in 2015. Due to all the requirements of a new President, this did not come to fruition for Fall 2015. In April 2016, the President’s office reached out to Housing and Residence Education to see if this idea could restart. After months of planning between the President’s office and Director, Lisa Diekow and Assistant Director, Ryan Winget, on August 15, 2016 President Fuchs and Linda Fuchs moved into Jennings Hall. The Fuchs’ pulled up to Jennings around 6 p.m. Dr. Fuchs wanted a “traditional check-in” so he and Linda picked up their keys from the Jennings Hall front desk. Of course, things were a little “untraditional” with a media team and special gift bag, but our desk assistant Jessica did a great job explaining how the keys worked and access the guest apartment.
