Industry strongly contributes to working with us to solve challenges to their sector, the economy and society. The examples below are a sample of our collaborative research programmes. THEME Agri-Food SAMPLE PROGRAMME Improving health, wellness and quality of life through world class innovation in food At Food for Health Ireland (FHI), knowledge of food is used to improve health and knowledge of health is used to improve food. The focus of the research programme is on milk and the discovery of new ways to develop functional food ingredients and products. A ‘functional food’ is one that serves a purpose beyond basic nutrition, promoting health or reducing the risk of certain diseases.
