Hyundai Hope On Wheels Supports Research
The UAB Comprehensive
Cancer Center’s Patient
& Family Resource Center
provides a comfortable
place to find support. If you
or a loved one has been
diagnosed with cancer,
our staff can answer your
questions about the illness,
treatment options and
available support services.
This can include:

The Alabama Center for
Childhood Cancer and Blood
Disorders at Children’s of Alabama
was one of 24 recipients across
the country selected by a rigorous
scientific review panel to receive a
highly competitive Hyundai Scholar
Grant from the Hyundai Hope On
Wheels organization. This $250,000
grant will support the work of
Gregory Friedman, M.D., associate
professor in the UAB Department of
Pediatrics and UAB Comprehensive
Cancer Center scientist. Hyundai
Hope On Wheels is a nonprofit
organization committed to finding a
cure for childhood cancer. Launched
in 1998, it provides grants to eligible
institutions nationwide that are
pursuing life-saving research and
innovative treatments for the disease.
Since its inception, Hyundai Hope On
Wheels has awarded more than $115
million towards childhood cancer
research in pursuit of a cure.
