I am extremely proud to report that
the UAB Comprehensive Cancer
Center recently received renewal
of our Cancer Center Support
Grant from the National Cancer
Institute. This five-year, multimillion
dollar grant renews our status as a
“comprehensive” cancer center and
further solidifies our position as a
leader in the research and treatment
of cancer.
But while we often talk about being a
“comprehensive” cancer center, many
people do not know what that means.

that word?
In this e-edition of UAB Comprehensive
Cancer Center Magazine, we aim to
answer those questions by giving
you an in-depth look at the Cancer
Center “by the numbers.” We hope
this will give you an idea of what goes
on behind the scenes at the Cancer
Center and the work being done here.
and staff, and I look forward to the
many advances to come.
Your support and involvement is
crucial to our success, and I thank you
for partnering with us in the fight
against cancer.

everything we do is to achieve our
