RESEARCH
The research enterprise within UAB’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is facilitated by physicians and
research scientists involved in all types of research. From basic science and translational research to outcomes
research and clinical trials, this activity helps further develop our clinical excellence and supports our academic
mission. The enterprise consists of surgeons, clinicians, and support staff (7 biostatisticians, 3 epidemiologists,
6 data analysts, 8 project managers, and 4 research associates). Our faculty actively conducts advanced
research, the results of which have been presented at major national and international meetings and published
in leading peer-reviewed medical journals.
