More than 2,350 lung resection surgeries were performed at UAB between 2009 and 2015, and 86% of the
lobectomies were for the treatment for lung cancer. The discharge mortality rate for lobectomies performed
between 2009 and 2015 was 0.91%, compared to the STS benchmark rate of 1.0%.
